What is a Hull?

The concept of a “hull” is used to calculate the center of mass of a shape. A hull does not trace over the surface of the shape or render any depth to the object. The center of mass is the point in the shape with the greatest mass or density.

Making a Hull for Graphics

Hulls are calculated by using functions from the 3DAlgebra library. 3DAlgebra’s library can export the calculated center of mass of any graphic as a function, or function block. The functions are designed to accept any geometry or point of interest as an input, and an output of the center of mass can be in various formats, for example, SVG, PDF, or DXF.

For example, there is a function called CreateHull for creating a “hull,” which calculates the center of mass of a shape. If the geometry you are working with is purely graphical in nature, you will create a function called CreateHull that defines the geometry of the object. If the object is not just a collection of points, then you will create a function that calculates the points of a polyline, polygon, or even a curve.

Creating a Hull

To create a hull for a shape, you must know the exact size of the object so you can properly define the object before working on the 3DAlgebra library. Most times when you are creating a hull, you will be working with only a small collection of points for the shape. In order to create a hull, you will want to select the “Create new geometry” from the functions tab in the tool bar. There are two options to create a hull with this library.

Insert a New Block

The Create a Hull function in the function library lets you choose between a polygon and curve, and choose the type of hull. Inserting a new block will place an object that calculates the hull. For more detail on inserting a new block, click here.

Define a Polyline

To create a polygonal hull, choose the Create a Hull function. Place the object in the canvas and then select the “Enable editability” from the function menu. Next, select the Create function, and choose Polyline on the left menu. Finally, choose the “Create a hull” from the functions menu. This action will allow the user to create the hull with

1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an intake vacuum controller for use in internal combustion engines.
2. Description of the Related Art
Various types of intake vacuum controllers which are switchable between an idle mode and an active mode have heretofore been known as intake vacuum controllers for internal combustion engines, as disclosed in Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H1-284559 and Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H11-17921.
The intake vacuum controller disclosed in Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H1-284559 includes a spring and a magnet, and energizes a throttle valve in an idle mode so as to hold the throttle valve closed. The intake vacuum controller disclosed in Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H11-17921 includes a float chamber of an air-fuel mixture to be supplied to a combustion chamber. The throttle valve is closed in an idle mode so as to suppress the filling of the float chamber.
However, if the spring for the idle mode in the intake vacuum controller disclosed in Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H1-284559 is insufficient or has an excessively high spring constant, the vacuum in the idle mode cannot be sufficiently held. If the spring for the idle mode in the intake vacuum controller disclosed in Japanese Patent Unexamined Publication No. H11-17921 is insufficient or has an excessively high spring constant, the float chamber cannot be sufficiently filled.
The present invention has been made in view of the foregoing circumstances, and it is an object of the present invention to provide an intake vacuum controller for internal combustion engines which can appropriately set a spring load or the pressure of a working fluid in each mode of the intake vacuum controller.
To achieve the above-mentioned object, an intake vacuum controller for internal combustion engines in accordance with the present invention comprises: a body member having a vacuum-introducing conduit defined therein and a pressure-reducing conduit defined therein through which a vacuum in an intake port is introduced into a vacuum chamber of the body member and the vacuum is reduced by a pressure-reducing valve; a working-fluid introducing conduit defined adjacent the vacuum-introducing conduit; a spring for biasing an opening degree of the pressure-reducing valve; and a switching device which controls the opening degree of the pressure-reducing valve by the spring being energized.
