4. KEYS have less integrity issues. If a hacker got hold of your KEYS, they could have used the same KEYS to create a bunch of new, valid copies of your software. KEYS are more secure. KEYS are expensive to counterfeit, as they must be generated algorithmically and printed in random patterns.
In the first version of KEYS the software(which had to be authenticated by the KEYS) had to be notified of the KEYS. KEYS were generated and sent to the software, who then sent back a “pass” along with them. This became the standard for most software distribution, but has a few downsides:
1. KEYS aren’t anonymous or private. You have to send a key back to the KEYS server for validation.
